Water Supply and Hydrogeology Projects
Hydrogeologic Services to Develop Well Head Protection Area. Continental Placer provided hydrogeologic services to develop and evaluate a Well Head Protection Area (WHPA) program for the Town of Guilderland. The WHPA was developed based on USEPA and NYSDEC recommended guidelines. The services included a hydrogeologic evaluation to determine an appropriate delineation method. Various zones of protection were then delineated using a combination of EPA defined methods. Continental Placer also considered potential future development issues within the WHPA in its evaluation. Finally, we offered the Town recommendations with respect to land use within the various zones.
Expansion of Water Resources for the Village of Philmont, New York. A hydrogeologic evaluation for the expansion of groundwater resources for the Village of Philmont, Columbia County, New York was performed by Continental Placer. The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the potential for locating an additional groundwater supply source for the Village, which is not under the direct influence of surface water impacts. The study incorporated the review of existing data, evaluation of the site, analysis of previous pumping test data, installation of an observation well, and performing and evaluating an aquifer pumping test for the Village of Philmont.
