BLASTING  AND  VIBRATION  SERVICES

In today’s competitive construction industry, public awareness is an undeniable factor in determining the success of a project. Negative public perception of blasting projects, such as skepticism over the safe use of explosives, can result in loss of project time and money. The monitoring and analysis of vibrations from blasting must be conducted by professionals who have the expertise and geological knowledge of the area. When you need precise information Continental Placer will provide you with proven project management practices, technical assistance to prepare and optimize your current operations, the know-how to mediate and ease neighborhood or municipal concerns. Our clients have depended on our services for over two decades.

Pre-Blast Surveys:  Continental Placer researches all properties within a specified radius of the blast area to gather names and addresses of property owners. Typically, owners are notified of the impending blasting project by certified mail/return receipt requested. The letter also includes our offer to conduct a pre-blast of their property. Surveys are conducted using a video camera with audio capabilities and are done to document existing conditions of structures on the property. Videos are kept on file at our office unless other arrangements are made. In addition to completing the survey, our personnel will discuss the aspects of blasting with the property owners. This is in an effort to make the owner more aware of blasting, hopefully reducing the potential for blast damage claims.

Third Party Blast Monitoring:  Continental Placer will assist with strategically locating and properly establishing seismographs to monitor each detonation. Recorded blast induced ground vibrations and air overpressures can be interpreted in the field and immediately reported to the blaster in charge.

Post-Blast Surveys: At the request of the blasting company or their insurance company, Continental Placer can conduct a thorough investigation of any blast. Through field investigations, interviews with property owners, analyses of seismic and/or blast records, and review of existing pre-blast surveys, our personnel can determine what effect blasting had on a structure, if any.
